More Than a Dance Studio. A Place to Grow.
Dance Fitness Complex is a Hip Hop dance studio in Kirwan, Townsville helping kids and teens build confidence, fitness, discipline and real skills through structured training.
Simple. Easy. Convenient. A clear path for families and a positive place for students to grow.
A Studio Built Around Confidence and Growth.
Dance Fitness Complex is more than a place to learn routines. It is a structured environment where children and teens can build confidence, coordination, fitness and self-belief through Hip Hop.
Students are given clear expectations, real encouragement and opportunities to challenge themselves at a level that suits their age and stage of development.
Beginners are welcome. The goal is not to walk through the door already knowing how to dance. The goal is to be willing to learn.
Dance Should Help Children Discover What They Can Do.
Music and movement can give a child confidence, connection and a sense of achievement that reaches far beyond the dance floor.
DFC was created to provide that experience without the cliques, comparison or pressure that can sometimes make children feel as though they need to fit a particular mould to belong.
A student does not need to be the most naturally talented person in the room to deserve attention, encouragement or the opportunity to improve.
Effort matters. Respect matters. Trying matters. Learning how to keep going when something feels difficult matters.
The Goal Is Not Perfection.
The goal is to help each student become more capable, more confident and more willing to challenge themselves.
That means celebrating progress, encouraging persistence and creating an environment where students understand that mistakes are part of learning.
Dance skills are important. The person developing alongside those skills matters just as much.
The Culture Is Intentional.
The way students learn and treat each other is just as important as the steps being taught.
Confidence
Students are encouraged to recognise progress, attempt new things and build genuine self-belief through achievement.
Respect
Respect for teachers, classmates, the learning environment and themselves is part of every class.
Discipline
Listening, practising, repeating and working through difficulty are important parts of becoming a strong dancer.
Belonging
Every student should feel that they have a place in the room and an opportunity to learn and contribute.
Fun Matters. So Does Learning.
A great class can be enjoyable without every minute needing to be entertainment.
Not Built Around Cliques
Students are encouraged to include others, celebrate classmates and understand that everyone progresses differently.
Not Just Games
Games, battles and fun challenges have a place, but students also practise technique, repeat movement and learn to focus.
Not About Being Perfect
Students are allowed to make mistakes, receive feedback and discover that improvement comes from working through challenge.
Meet Tanya.
Dance and music have always been more than an activity. They are a way to move, connect, express yourself and feel completely present.
That love of music and movement sits at the heart of DFC.
After more than 30 years teaching dance, the most rewarding moments are not simply watching a student perform choreography correctly.
They are the moments when a child who was unsure of themselves suddenly attempts something new, keeps trying after a mistake or realises they are capable of more than they thought.
Teaching the Whole Student
Tanya's approach combines clear expectations with genuine encouragement.
Students are supported, but they are also challenged to listen, focus, practise and take responsibility for their learning.
That balance is deliberate. Confidence does not come from everything always being Easy. It grows when a student learns that they can work through something difficult.
More Than 30 Years of Teaching.
Strong programs are built through experience, continued learning and understanding how different students learn.
Dance Teaching
More than 30 years teaching dance and helping students build strong foundations, confidence and performance skills.
Movement and Fitness
Experience across dance, fitness and movement supports a broader understanding of strength, coordination and body control.
Working With Different Learners
Every student learns differently. Classes are structured so skills can be demonstrated, broken down, repeated and practised in different ways.
The DFC Method™
The DFC Method™ brings the studio's philosophy into the structure of the Hip Hop program through eight connected areas of development.
DFC Is for Students Who Are Ready to Give It a Go.
Beginners
Your child does not need previous dance experience. They simply need to be willing to learn.
Children Building Confidence
Students are given opportunities to achieve, make mistakes and gradually become more independent.
Students Who Want Real Skills
Hip Hop foundations, Breaking, Popping, Locking, Tricking, choreography and performance are developed over time.
