Tanya began dancing at the age of 4. During her years as a dancer, Tanya trained in many styles including:
- Hip Hop
- Irish Dancing
- Tap
- Jazz
- Contemporary
- Ballet
During these years, Tanya studied under the
- Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D)
- Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance (C.S.T.D)
- Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD)
- An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG)
- Cumann Rince Naisiunta (CRN)
syllabus and completed several examinations to reach her teaching exam.
As a dancer, Tanya achieved many awards at both Regional, State, National and International events. Tanya’s love for education began at the age of 10 while assisting her first dance class. Since this time, she has taught both recreational and competitive dancers at four studios in the Brisbane area –
- Linda Ford Academy of Dance (1985-1990)
- Kick Performing Arts Studio (1991-1999)
- Chase Academy (2000-2010)
- Eire Dance Australia (2011-2023)
Tanya has attended several dance and teaching conventions and master classes with teachers such as Dean Perry of “Tap Dogs” fame which has allowed her to experience many different dance styles, as well as teaching styles. Over the years, Tanya’s students have been very successful in their exams as well as on stage at dance competitions winning many awards, overall placements and titles at both Regional and National events.
As the principal Dance Teacher at Dance Fitness Complex, Tanya feels that it is important for her students to feel confident, motivated and inspired at all times and that they are in an environment they feel comfortable in. Tanya wants to see her students succeed, be proud of their accomplishments and enjoy all of the hard work and dedication they put into dance.
